Appreciate a Female Entrepreneur Today.
Good day guys, it is still me, Titilope.
So,I started this blog yesterday introducing what It is all about, incase you missed it, you can CLICK HERE
Earlier today, I went to Ikeja city mall to see a movie with a very good friend of mine (Name withheld, lol). I took a danfo ( as i don't have a car or money for cab. Epp me Please) from Abule Egba to Ikeja Along and barely two minutes after I entered, I noticed two men arguing inside the bus about how all women are gold diggers. I became furious but I decided to cool down and just listen.
The first man talked about how women don't want to work, how they always use 'what they have' to get 'what they need'. He went on and on about how useless all women are and how he won't be getting married. That was when the second man told him 'not all women' are lazy and useless, maybe he has just been meeting the 'useless' ones.
Now, I think both men are right,in fact, I believe the first man is more right because we have a lot of women out there that actually believe in using their body to get high grades in school, jobs, promotion and a whole other things money inclusive and those women are overshadowing the ambitious and hardworking women.
Another thing is,these first category of women are making things harder for the second category of women. You go for an interview well prepared, well qualified but the person who got the job is not even qualified but she got it because she has 'seen oga'.
If securing a job is about who has 'seen oga' how much more accessing startup fund for female entrepreneurs? I can remember when I talked to someone about my business and all he replied me with was 'you're the one dulling yourself' because I politely turned down his sexual advances. ( I will write a full article about that one day).
If I am not mistaken, a lot of men seem to prefer the first category of women maybe because it boosts their ego or something( I do not really know) but I've seen men talk about how they want to feel needed and all that which makes some men see hardworking women as a threat, that's one logic that's confusing really.
Here is the point of my rant today, if you are in the position to help someone, please do without attaching conditions that are uncalled for. If you have the power of helping 50 ladies, will you sleep with them all? Shuu, Mr Tiger. I believe if you invest in an intelligent lady and you discuss equity and all that, by the time the business starts booming,it will be an added advantage for you. And to the ladies that are using 'what they have' to get 'what they need' , I hope you know one day, what you think you have will get stale and all you will need to survive is your hard work.
If you have a little time to spare, go out and relate with women with small shops, hear their stories, you will be shocked at how many of them with beaming ideas but are limited because no one is ready to help without tapping the honeypot.
Therefore, if you meet a hardworking woman, entrepreneur or not, appreciate them because they are hard to come by in this generation. Tell them you appreciate them, let them know they are on the right path and that one day all their hard work will eventually pay off. Thank you.

You are on point... but this world is set up ehn, these category of people will always exist...
ReplyDeleteYes but the moment they stop having their way, they will go almost extinct
DeleteWe've invested in ladies before with lots of regrets. Key thing is doing whatever you can yo help without expecting returns. I disagree with the notion that the former category must always exist...
ReplyDeleteTrue. If those category stop gaining relevance from men, they they can cease to exist.
DeleteGod bless you for this post. As a young entrepreneur I know the challenges I'm facing. But one day "e go better". May God help us all!
